Wellington weekend

Lesson learned: A car is like a woman, it needs a cup of liquid to keep quit. (in my case it was the engine needing a bit oil in order to lubricate properly and it caused a tapping sound :( )

We drove down to Wellington friday morning at half passed 7 after brimming the car with this octane 91/butter they are selling down here.
The trip went smooth and we did a few stops. First at Huka falls wich was a great waterfall, looked good and there were some good scenic viewpoints. The secound stop we made was in Palmerston North where we visited the local BMW Dealer to have a look at the stock they had.
We then went for a walk in the city square, and after a few minutes of walking we see a guy writing parkin tickets and then it struck me, "I didnt see anywhere to pay when parking", the speed back to the car were a bit higher than away from it, though we managed to stop at Hallensteins(mens fashion store) to buy a white longsleve t-shirt for Thorsten so he would fit in with the crowd at the soccer game on saturday night. We got back to the car but lucky me, no extra paper to be found on the car, and I have not recieved anything by mail...so far.

We arrived at our hostel and we decided to take it easy, therefore we headed to Pack and save and bought 12 Heineken and to Subway to pickup our dinner. We then got back to the hostel and started to eat, we came in talk with another German guy(germans... they are everywhere...). After we had eaten we started a game of Taboo. To those of you who dont know the game it goes like this: you draw a card with 6 words on it. the top one is the word you have to explain to your "game partner" and the 5 others are words you are not allowed to use. We started out quite badly due to a shrinken vocabulary but soon the heineken started to expand it and our capability to guess so we ended up being quite good, eventhough Markus tried to convince us that his shirt was made of the word he was trying to explain which was "cottage".

Saturday morning we took the train to wellington from Paraumu where we were staying and the first thing which struck me after entering the train was: "....I forgot my ipod". I managed to kill time by looking at the scenery and have a phonecall to my cousin.
We wandered around in Wellington for the whole day, we did a guided tour in the parliament, took a ride with the cable cars and walked at the harbor.
The clock soon turned 4.00 pm and it was time to do the warm up for the soccer game in order to avoid injuries. We managed to find a nice Irish pub, or better descriped an AWESOME Irish pub. It was a brilliant athmosphere inside with flags, decorations and drunk people.
We stayed there until it was time to go to Westpac Stadium. We soon got caught by a group of All white(NZ national team name) and we went with them through the city singing(pretending to know the lyrics) and had a great time.

Entrance to the stadium was the easiest ever, we scanned the end of our ticket like an Etix at the airport and walked to the first two white dressed girls we could see to get inflateble "clappers" (dont know what they are called). We walked in and found our seats. GREAT SEATS directly in the middle of the field, almost the chair next to the waterboy. I was quite impressed because it was last chance tickets we got them in a secound round of 500 extra releases.

The game got on and the crowd was on fire, 19 out of 20 was NZ supporters and the rest was a mixture of referees and bahrain fans. it really was great home support to the guys.
We joined at our best, drinking NZ Tui beer and cheering.
Our cheering paid off, NZ won 1 - 0 and therefore qualified for the World Cup next year. Best soccer result since 1982.

The rest of the night got well invested and with great return.

The return trip the next day was quite boring. You can do 100km/h everwhere in NZ and you are allowed. Its just boring, there are a few times where it gets a bit exciting, not because you are allowed to do 100 but because eve a horse would complain about the quality of the road. It keeps you awake while driving, cause you newer know when the car will do something unforseen.
